Hey there - I love your Stalker mod and sent someone to your site to download it but they're getting an error in IE.  I checked myself and, sure enough, when you try to visit using IE you get the message "Internet Explorer cannot open the internet site http://www.nicktexidor.com/joomla-modules/55-modstalker.  Operation Aborted."

I normally use Firefox (guess you must too).  Any ideas?

BTW - thanks for a great and useful extension!

Hi,

Thanks for reporting this. I'm a Mac-based, Firefox user, although I also use Chrome & Safari too.

I've just fired up IE8 in a virtual machine, and browsed to the page you mention, and it all loads fine for me.  Could you tell me what version of IE you tried this with?  Also, is the error icon appearing in the status bar?  Does it show any errors if you double click it?

Thanks
Nick

Tried it in both IE7 and IE8.  The pages do load in IE8 with the exception of modal login box.  Switched back to trusy FF to report what I found :)

In IE7 (on Vista) - the error icon shows in the status bar, but the error message is displayed in an message box and once I click that away, I get the "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" screen and nothing else.

In IE8 (on Vista 64-bit) - the error icon shows in the status bar and I can see the following details:

Webpage error details

Thanks for your help with this.  In IE 8 it worked for me, but did show an error in the status bar.  I don't have IE7 to test with.  I've spent the day tearing my hair out over this.. just can't see what's causing it.  I had a friend look over it, and some pages got an error, and then the same pages didn't!!  Go figure!

Would you mind letting me know if the error is still happening?  I think there may have been a conflict between a couple of system plugins, and I've removed one of them.  Now I'm getting less errors in the FF console, but not sure if that resolved IE7's problems or not.

Would appreciate it if you could have a look if you get a chance.

Thanks
Nick

So it's been a few days... just thought I'd check to see if it's still working! hahahaha

Thanks again for your help the other day!

You're welcome - I was happy to help!  Good news is... Stalker, Download pages are still working.  Bad news?  not the home page... it teases by starting to load, then the dreaded error message appears and it aborts.  (Odd, since it doesn't look like you've changed anything)  D@#$ IE!

Right, so that means it WASN'T the TalkToMe module at all. That's good!  :^)

I have no idea what it is!  I give up!  :^)

Thanks

well this seems to be a combination of a few things... that's the only thing I can fathom from the inconsistencies.  Firstly, I realised I was linking to the FriendConnect.js file twice which seemed to have fixed the problem for my brother using IE7.  Would be interested to hear if it now loads for you?

I'm so OVER IE!!  :^)

That seems to have fixed it!  Well, at least everything but the contact page... :)  And, just in case you were ever curious, it works just fine in Chrome (except that pesky contact page).  I figured I'd give that a try too.

I give up! :^)

Maybe it's Windows.... but here's a link to what it looks like in my version of Chrome, which is 4.0.249.89 (38071).

The fields are editable, even thought they look odd.
