I have installed all 3 parts of Stalker.

I have created a group. I added Twitter to that group.

In the module, I have checked that I am using database. Do I still need to enable Twitter in the module?

I have published the module to the right positions in the latest RocketTheme template "Fusion". But nothing is showing. The module is set to show on all pages.

I am using Norwegian language in the site. Joomla 1.5.14 and version 1.1 of your component, module and plugin.

If I disable using database, and just enable Twitter in the module, the icon shows. But if I then just enable the database, it disappears again.

I have enabled the plugin.

Anything else I should have done? I have checked the webpage with Firebug, but when it is not displaying on the page, there is no trace of it. Nor frame, no bars  - absolutely nothing.

Ah, if you have created a group, then make sure you have put the GroupId in the field in the module, i.e. 1

Groups aren't mandatory, they're just a way of grouping icons to appear in multiple modules/plugins.

Let me know if this resolves the problem.

Regards
Nick

I'm having the same problem ...

using a YooTheme Template

module position is Left,

if i select Use Database = Yes ... the module appears - but no icons. Even entered the group name - no icons

if i select Use Database = No .... the icons appear

download the latest version 1.1.1 today. Installed all three modules COM, MOD, PLG ... Clicked INSTALL to install database tables.

it all looks likes its working - just icons not showing up

I've left it with DB select Yes ... so you can see the problem ... just a grey bar bottom left.

peter

UPDATE: Problem resolved. IF i REMOVE the use of Groups when i create a COM entry... in the setup of the Stalker Component entries. Then the icons appear.

Hi peter,

Glad you managed to get it resolved.

Groups are really only required if you want more than one module.  If you only plan on having a single module, you can completely ignore groups. However, if you do set up a group, you need to make sure the GroupID in the Module settings match the id of the group you've created.

All the best
Nick

Hey!

I'm having the same problem, but I've tried all as you suggested.

A few weeks ago I installed just the module without the plugin or com and just setup the basic links to facebook, twitter, etc., and that was working fine.

But I wanted more flexibility to also link to some external sites, so I finally got around to installing the com today.  Got everything setup, but the icons won't show.

THEN realised that there was a third thing, the plugin, that needed installing (I know... attention to detail....). Anyway, I subsequently installed the plugin v1.2.3.  Then tried refreshing the page.  No luck.  Icons not showing.

I initially set my icons up in a group and referred to the group, but after reading that that may be having some problems, I removed the group level and just let it bring in everything.

Still no luck.

Should I uninstall the module and plugin and reinstall them... and perhaps in some particular order?

http://flightbiz.info is the site.  Just a blank box at the moment, although I have 4 icons setup.  I've linked them all as "external links" because I wanted total control over the URLs.

SOLVED:  A little persistence paid off.

I deleted the links I had put in prior to installing the plugin and recreated them.

This seems to have sorted out the problem.

Pays to do stuff in the right order!

Glad you got it sorted!!

With regards to the groups, if you change your links to 'No Group', it should be ok, but if you've assigned them to a group, make sure you specify the group id (i.e. 1) in the group id field of the module.

The plugin isn't a requirement for the Component or Module.  It's purely there so you can drop your links into an article... should you want to :)

All the best

I was having this problem too. None of the above fixed it for me. Then a light bulb moment.

My problem was, text and link was appearing, but no icons. I didn't see the image placeholder around the text. That should give you a clue. Basically, the icons that needed to appear on the site are in a folder where website viewers have no permission to access them. I copied them into the images folder and updated the paths in the PHP files for stalker. Now you could just set the permissions to the media/stalker/icons folder and sub folder, but I didn't want to do that.

I'm just using the module and the component so, first I copied the media/stalker/icons folder to images/social (I renamed icons to social to have better meaning for me).

Go to the php files below and search and replace all occurances of media/stalker/icons/ with images/social/

for the module I changed modules/mod_stalker/helper.php

for the component I changed components/com_stalker/views/stalker/tmpl/default.php

Hope that helps someone along nice a quickly. I was scratching my head for a while.

Thanks for the stalker tool guys. Any chance of a Google+1 or do I just add that in the component list.

Later
